External Forces Must Stop Interfere in HK Affairs

The UK and the U.S.?have cleverly packaged their ulterior purpose in their rhetoric since day one.

On July 21, some radical demonstrators besieged and stormed the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), defaced the national emblem and painted insulting words on the wall.

In earlier days, violent protestors stormed the Legislative Council Complex in the HKSAR, surrounded the police headquarters, attacked police officers and illegally stored dangerous goods and large amounts of offensive weapons.

Both the United Kingdom and the United States have expressed concerns about the protests in Hong Kong. But as usual they have chosen to view them through a prism of their own motives. Hence, they talk of freedom of speech and the right to peaceful assembly, while keeping silent on the escalating violence accompanying them.

HK Protestors’ Challenge to Central Government Intolerable

Such vicious acts have seriously trampled on the rule of law in Hong Kong, blatantly challenged the authority of the central government and touched the bottom line of the principle of “one country, two systems,” which are absolutely intolerable.

The protestors’ behaviors have gone far beyond a peaceful demonstration. The escalating incidents have revealed an attempt by the mobs and the forces behind to paralyze the HKSAR government, undermine the principle of “one country, two systems,” wrest power over the region and impede China’s development by throwing Hong Kong into disorder.

Such acts are unacceptable to the central government, as they have threatened national sovereignty and challenged the central government’s authority.

The Bottom Line of?One country, Two systems”?Must Be Insisted

Seriously violating the law, the acts trampled the rule of law in Hong Kong, undermined social order of Hong Kong and the fundamental interests of Hong Kong residents, and were a blatant challenge to the bottom line of “one country, two systems.”

These violent offenders must not be tolerated and must be severely punished for their illegal acts in accordance with the law.

People of Hong Kong may learn a lesson from the incident that the region’s rule of law should be safeguarded as eyes are protected, and the region’s prosperity and stability should be valued as life is valued.

No one can pursue the so-called political ends at the expense of tearing up society and jeopardizing the rule of law.

Hong Kong residents should firmly support the HKSAR government and police to exercise their lawful duty, look out for a few people who seize the opportunity to muddy the water and guard against the attempts from foreign forces to undermine China’s sovereignty and security as well as Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability.

All sectors of Hong Kong’s society are expected to stand together and create a favorable social environment and necessary conditions for the HKSAR government to exercise law-based governance, develop the economy and improve livelihoods.

With the support from the central government and citizens of Hong Kong, the region will surely continue to maintain its prosperity and stability, and the practice of “one country, two systems” will continue to achieve progress.

Violent Acts Has Damaged the Interests of HK?Society

On the other hand, such violent acts have damaged the fundamental interests of Hong Kong society and will not be accepted by those who care about the region’s future, either.

On July 20, more than 300,000 Hong Kong residents rallied to voice support for the police, expressing their confidence and commitment to maintaining social order in accordance with the law.

Only by safeguarding social order, can Hong Kong maintain its competitive edge and its long-term prosperity.

Necessary measures should be taken in accordance with the law to ensure the safety of the central government organs based in Hong Kong, safeguard rule of law and punish criminals.

Hong Kong people should clearly recognize the nature and harm of the violent protests and stay committed to the principle of “one country, two systems” and the rule of law.

Under the support of the central government and Hong Kong residents, the HKSAR government will surely restore social order.

The Protests?Have Gone Far Beyond Being Peaceful Assemblies

The Hong Kong they see exists on an alternate timeline, no one viewing the situation objectively will doubt that the protests have now gone far beyond being peaceful assemblies.

And the freedom of expression they are vaunting in their attempts to widen the divide between the two systems has deluded some into thinking they will rule the roost in a separate country — although they might as well ask for the moon since China’s sovereignty over Hong Kong is not open to debate.

The UK and the U.S.?have cleverly packaged their ulterior purpose in their rhetoric since day one.

And those willing to accept their gifts have been emboldened to plan and carry out the vandalizing of the legislative council of Hong Kong — a symbol of the special administrative region’s rule of law.

Then, after lying low for a bit, seeing the Hong Kong government’s calm response to the rioting, it fortified their nerve; emboldening them enough to point their ambitions directly at Beijing by attacking the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong and defacing the national emblem.

The only stone that is still left unturned on their map of provocation is the barracks of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison.

But who knows, for these people are not acting on any noble motives, simply out of spite and hubris and their own allegiances. They have shown that they are willing to go to extreme lengths in their efforts to provoke an enraged response from Beijing.

The restrained response of the central government so far, which has been limited to condemnations of the rioting and calls for the UK and the U.S.?to keep their meddling hands out of Hong Kong affairs, clearly indicates it still views the protests as a domestic affair, although with outside interference.

As was the case after the “Occupy Central” protests, it will only be a matter of time for the rioters to be held accountable for their actions. The time that they have left for their ugly show — which has been an eye-opener for the whole world to judge for itself the hypocrisy of their appeals — is ticking down.

Neither the UK nor the U.S.?has been able to deny its association with the escalation of the situation in Hong Kong, which simply betrays their duplicity.
